A Thought Experiment on the Existence of God

Introduction

I recently have been watching debates on YouTube between Christian apologetics and atheists on the existence of God. I am doing this for a couple of reasons. First, I’m really interested in this question. It’s one of the most profound questions one can ask about the nature of our reality.

For some background, I grew up Catholic and the majority of people around me during my upbringing were also Catholic or at least Christian so even questioning the existence of God was not discussed much. Over the years, as some do, I began to question everything and think critically about my beliefs rather than just accept what was told to me as a child was the absolute truth.

The other reason is to objectively understand both sides of the argument and gain a better perspective on the philosophical and logical thought. Many fall too deep into their side of the argument and never even consider what the other side has to say because their mind is so closed off to the other’s point of view.

Whilst contemplating this debate, I devised a thought experiment and I’d like to write it here to see how others think of it. However, before starting the thought experiment, I just want to point out that there is no right or wrong answer nor is this experiment biased to one mode of thought. The goal is…
